O'Neill Transport was founded in 1960 by William O'Neill. The company initially started by delivering local produce for farmers and merchants and gradually over the years developed the business into general haulage.

When Liam and Donal O'Neill entered the business in 1984, a decision was made to move into the refrigerated section which started with delivering meat and lamb from abattoirs around Ireland to the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece. As market trends have changed over the years the company also specialises in transport, packaging and distribution for suppliers and producers of foods and related services within the food industry.
